a Venti WHAT!?!?!?

So I'm in Starbucks the other day, and I hear this woman in front of me order the following: "I'll have a venti, soy, non-fat, no-water, chai." Now I'll be honest, I have no idea what this means, but I can tell you one thing; it almost certainly is not worth the effort of ordering, making, or drinking the damn thing. What the hell is a no-water chai? For those of you who don't know, 'chai' is a type of tea. Now the last time I checked making tea was a pretty simple task. 1. Boil water. 2. Add tea to cup (leaves or a bag). 3. Pour water into cup. So my question is, how the hell do you make tea without water?!?! Maybe you just use the soy milk this woman requested, but if that's the case, I'd be willing to argue that it's no longer tea, but something else. I'm not exactly sure what, but it's definitely not tea.

Which leads me to the point of my rant. I realize that people like to have choices, but c'mon people, do we really need 55,000+ different types of coffee and tea drinks at a Starbucks? (This is NOT an exaggerated number. This is according to the Starbucks company themselves.) I have NOTHING against Starbucks at all, quite to the contrary, I think they are a great company. For a GREAT story about Starbucks, click HERE. But when it comes to choices, enough is enough. Would this woman's day have been any different if she had a Venti Chai Tea? Nothing fancy, just tea and water, the way it was meant to be consumed?

Anyway, that's what I was thinking about today, so I thought I'd share. Feel free to leave me any comments.

Brilliant!!! As for the name(tea made with soy milk)....Does such an obscure concoction really deserve a name?

And yet...

I'll have a Venti Coffee of the Day takes the same number of words.

Food for thought. Drink for fun.
