Chuck Norris' view on the media coverage of the war: http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=29728
I read this article, and initially thought, "How typical. I'm not surprised that the media would not be giving credit to the current administration for anything positive". Then I thought about it, and wondered if what this article is stating is true. I did some research, and found out the following information about the number of US casualties in Iraq over the last two twelve month periods.
Dec. '07 thru Nov. '08: 317 total deaths, an average of less than 27 per month.
Dec. '06 thru Nov. '07: 952 total deaths, an average of just over 79 per month.
Source: www.globalsecurity.org
I don't know a lot about war, but this certainly would seem like a positive story, and something that the media would want to celebrate. Of course I am not implying that the deaths of 317 soldiers is something that anyone should celebrate, but reducing the amount to one-third of what is was just 12 months ago is a move in the right direction. Even those completely opposed to this war would have to agree.
You may not be a fan of Chuck Norris, but he certainly is making some sense in this article. Feel free to share your opinions below, I would love to hear what you have to say about this subject.

Why do people say that Sarah Palin is not qualified to be President?
Over the past few months, I've heard time and time again that Sarah Palin is not qualified to be President. And every time I hear that as an excuse to not vote for McCain / Palin, it's always followed up by 'it's because of her lack of experience'.
I just don't get it. Why is it that Sarah Palin is not qualified, but Barack Obama is qualified? In case you forgot, Ms. Palin is running for the Vice-President, not the President.
Why is it that after 143 days as an elected official, Mr. Obama is qualified to hold the highest position in our country?
Can someone please explain this to me? Help me understand.

Double Standard for Jesse Jackson?
Jesse Jackson has just been given a free pass. In a taped interview, he is quoted as saying:
This of course is acceptable for Jackson because he is black, even though he has stated publicly in the past:
Maybe someone should protest in front of the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition, calling for his job. (Does he even have a job?) Similar to his protests in front of the NBC building when Don Imus made comments about the Rutgers women's basketball team.
I would argue that what Jesse Jackson said was far worse than the comments of Don Imus. If in fact this is true, then no matter what his apology says, he should be removed from his 'job', just like Don Imus was.
Wouldn't you agree?
"talking down to black people,” and “telling n—–s how to behave".
This of course is acceptable for Jackson because he is black, even though he has stated publicly in the past:
it is hurtful to the black community, whether it is used by blacks or whites
Maybe someone should protest in front of the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition, calling for his job. (Does he even have a job?) Similar to his protests in front of the NBC building when Don Imus made comments about the Rutgers women's basketball team.
"NBC must choose between Imus and the rest of us," said The Rev. Jesse Jackson as he protested with 50 others outside Chicago's NBC Tower Monday.. "The rest of us are going to organize a boycott until they make a choice."
Jackson said protests are being planned across the country in Atlanta, San Francisco and Los Angeles.
"This was not a slip of the lip," Jackson said outside the Tower. "This was a conversation ... (and) corporate sponsors have a role to play in not sponsoring these acts of racial bigotry."
I would argue that what Jesse Jackson said was far worse than the comments of Don Imus. If in fact this is true, then no matter what his apology says, he should be removed from his 'job', just like Don Imus was.

Complain all you want....
So the Stock Market took a beating today, WHO CARES? If you listen to the media, everyone should, but if you look at the history of the Stock Market, you see a much brighter outlook than some media outlets would have you believe.
If you look at the following images taken from Google Finance, you will clearly see that the US Stock Market is where you want to invest your money.
First the bad news from today:
Obviously no one wants to see this. But let's look at the bigger picture.
One Year:
OUCH! Much worse. I'll stick with the 2.5% loss from today, thank you very much.
But what happens if we go back and look a little further in the past?
Five Years:
Looking a bit better, huh? I'll take a 35% INCREASE any day.
But what happens if we go back even further? Let's go back to 1970 and see what the Market has done since then...
WOW! Does that REALLY show a 1417% INCREASE??? Let's hear it for the US Economy! Nothing to panic over, and certainly not a reason to sell all your stocks. In fact, with the dip in the market today, just look at it as a sale. Now go buy that stock you've been eyeing up recently; it's probably cheaper today than it was yesterday.
I hope in 30 years when I'm ready to retire, I can look back on today as just what it is, a minor dip in the market.
I'm no expert, and don't make my living buying or selling stocks, but this seems like a no-brainer to me.
